My favorite photoshoot question of all time: “Can we bring our pet?” Of course you can, and please do! I absolutely adore meeting new pups (or other furry friends) and letting them shine in front of the camera - after all, they’re a huge part of your life and your story, so they should be a part of your pictures, too!
Every pet's needs are different, of course, but there are a few tips I always recommend for this. Since we live in the desert, make sure to bring plenty of water for everyone, especially your fur babies. It's also a good idea to bring treats, a squeaky toy, or another form of motivation to keep pets happy, focused, and looking toward the camera. I also recommend bringing along a lint roller for stray fur and an additional person for an extra set of hands. Depending on personalities, it can also be fun to bring small props to celebrate the occasion (think a favorite toy, festive sign, or a "my humans are getting married" bandana).
The other thing to keep in mind is that the vibe of the photoshoot likely depends on the nature of your pet(s). For example, with curious, energetic pups that have trouble keeping still, I like to take a more candid approach to photos. This eases the stress of trying to get them to stay put, while also allowing me to capture moments of their natural personality. Focusing on playful interactions between you and your pet creates photographs that truly captures your relationship. On the other hand, if your pet is less active, that's fine too! I'm happy to pose more traditional photos as well as a few shots of them just chilling and doing their thing. The point is, we can tailor your session to best suit the personality of you and your pets to get photos that just feel real.
Dogs, cats, horses, snakes - you name it, and I'll be there with my camera. Including your furry best friend in your photos is one of the best ways to capture memories and your story to look back on for the years to come.
Psst! If you're looking for a quick and easy photoshoot (especially if your pet doesn't like to sit for too long) consider bringing them to a mini session event! I host these a couple times a year - reach out to check in about my next mini dates! I'd love to work with you and your fur babies. :)
