What to Expect on your Senior Photoshoot

Grad photos shouldn’t be stressful. When you book a session with me, my number one priority it making sure you are comfortable enough to let yourself shine. In the interest of doing so, here are some pointers on what to expect from a typical senior picture session with me.

  1. Selecting your Package

Hooray - we’ve picked a date and time for your senior portrait session. Now, it’s time to select your photo package. All of my sessions include a private online gallery with professionally edited and retouched photographs in both color and black and white versions. You’ll notice that the sessions list only a “minimum” amount of photos. It’s best to pick your package based on your needs from the final gallery - for example, how many finished photographs you’d like, if you want time for an outfit change, your budget, etc. That’s because I’ll edit all of the best images to include in your gallery (with no extra charge for additional photos or image downloads). You can check out the specific details of each package here, or under the “investment” tab above.

2. Choosing your Location

This is where the fun begins. Often, people assume that graduation portraits have to happen on their school’s campus - not true! On-campus senior pictures are a great way to get a classic, traditional vibe, but this is not the only option. If you prefer something a little more unique or just with a different personality, I offer plenty of gorgeous locations for photoshoots around the valley.

3. Preparing for your Session

As your session approaches, it’s normal to feel a combination of excitement and nervousness. I always send my graduate clients a “what to expect” guide detailing exactly what will happen during our shoot, some fun ideas for props or posing, and suggestions for what to bring to help make the session go as smoothly and stress-free as possible. I’m also happy to answer any questions you may have beforehand and take any Pinterest boards or suggestions you have in mind!

4. Day of your Session

I’m not just your photographer - I’m also your hype-woman, personal stylist, therapist, and documentarian. In other words, I’ve got your back! You can relax and know that you are in experienced, easy-going hands. Whether you’re a natural model or this is your very first time in front of the camera, there’s never any pressure in front of my lens. I’ll coach you through poses until we find a process that feels natural to you and best suits your needs and preferences.

5. After the Shoot

Once we wrap up, I’ll be in touch via email with some sneak peek previews of your photos. Later on, I’ll send the full gallery. I’ll be sure to give you an estimate on my current turnaround time for this, as it can vary by season, but I am here to keep you updated and answer any questions as always! To inquire about a session, please fill out the form linked here and on my contact page.
